Some afternoons just stick with you. Long grass catching the last of the light, two dogs running around – and Bella and Will, just embracing each other’s company in the calm of the outdoors. Watching the afternoon unfold and capturing it like I wasn’t there was one of the reasons I became a photographer in the first place.
This engagement photoshoot was so playful – it had this unhurried energy to it where we just let the afternoon unfold. Bella and Will held hands through the long grass, the two of them swaying and dancing like nobody was watching. Will always had this quiet way of finding Bella – and she would just laugh and let him. And of course, their two dogs getting smothered in cuddles within almost every frame. It felt natural – just them doing what they do, with the afternoon sun making it’s perfect presence.
It’s these little details that years from now they’ll look back on and remember exactly how it felt to be here. I never want these sessions to feel like a photoshoot, I want them to feel like a nice afternoon that happened to be captured. When I posted this on Instagram recently, Bella responded with ‘The absolute best!’ which made me feel so happy to be able to capture this amazing moment for them.
If this sounds like your kind of thing, get in touch – I would love to tell your story too.
