It feels right that these images finally have a permanent place here. When I shared a few glimpses of this day on Instagram last year, the response was overwhelming. It became one of my most loved stories of the year. I think it’s because we all recognize our own families in these moments.
I visited Erika at her home for an in-home motherhood session. We spent the afternoon leaning into the happiness found in the chaos. We let the kids lead the way. There was plenty of quality time spent together on the floor, surrounded by favourite toys and in the kids rooms reading their most well-loved books.
Eventually, the energy spilled outdoors. We spent time running through the garden, weaving between the washing hanging on the line. There was shadow puppets and core memories galore. It was a beautiful, unscripted reminder of what motherhood actually feels like.
An in-home motherhood session is such a gift to your future self. It preserves the way you played, the way you laughed, and the way you loved within your own four walls. I am so glad this gallery resonated with so many of you. It’s a celebration of the messy, wonderful life you’ve built.
