Sunday Mornings at Home.

There’s nothing more I love than a slow Sunday morning at home, and that’s exactly the sort of morning I got to capture with the Bolands. Just a perfectly imperfect morning spent at home doing all the usual weekend activities. We started by making pancakes, a Sunday morning classic really before the kids wanted to show me their epic playroom and all their collection of beautiful vintage toys. Janaya, like me, has a weakness for old treasures and her collection of vintage toys and knick-knacks were amazing to look at, with the kids so excited to show me their mum’s old rubber collection! We then decided to head outside where Arlo and Reeve had fun doing tricks on the trampoline and playing pirates in the cubby house. I loved reliving my own childhood through watching them make up little games together just like I’d do with my siblings.

The Bolands live on an incredible property on the river which is not only a dream itself, but also made even more magical by the most beautiful, giant Moreton Bay Fig Tree, just a mere 50 metres away from the rivers edge. We wandered down and the kids were so eager to climb it. I could of only dreamt of such an epic tree to climb as a kid! The tree was very special to Janaya, one of the reasons they bought the property in the first place, so it felt special to capture her and the kids climbing amongst it. I couldn’t help but imagine the history that tree had felt, experiencing events like flood after flood but also to be loved and appreciated by so many people too.

We then decided to finish off by heading down to their little river beach where the dogs enjoyed a good run around in the sand and Arlo and Reve started building a little teepee with sticks they had found. Yet again another thing I always used to do myself as a kid. I left the session with my heart feeling so full and nostalgic, grateful to the Bolands for having me join in on one of their Sundays at home.
