Why photos should matter to you...

blog

Do you ever have moments like watching your kids play, snuggling in bed with them, nursing your newborn or holding hands with your lover that make you wish you could stay in that very moment forever?

Photos are a precious time-stopping gift and a gift that will continue to give for generations to come. There’s a quote I love that I feel really relates to the power of photos: “Enjoy the little things in life for one day you’ll look back and realise they were the big things” – Kurt Vonnegut. When you really think about it, if you think back to some of your fondest memories, they tend to be small snippets, random little moments that may seem insignificant, but are actually the ones that bring so much nostalgia. And that is exactly the feeling I want to bring into your photos so that when you, your kids and grandkids look at them, there is a powerful sense of home and comfort.

Why is it that we spend so much money on things like clothes, cars, phones, things for our home only for us to not care about them a year or even months later. However, when it comes to paying for photos, we are often hesitant. But if there was a fire or a flood, photos would be the first thing we grab. They are priceless. They are your life, your story – a story that should be kept, treasured and told.

This leads into my next point - let your photos be about you! Let me be the one to help tell that story for you. As your photographer, it is my biggest priority to make sure my photos represent you and your loved ones as you are. Maybe that means me being there for your Sunday breakfast with you and the kids cooking pancakes in the kitchen. Or capturing your kids running around outside playing tip. Maybe it’s you and your other half snuggling up on the couch at home with your little (or big) fur baby. Photos do not have to be a chore or something you have to do! Let them be fun! Because when you are truly enjoying yourself, that will shine through the photos. Those will be the photos that tell the story of your life. And that is exactly why I am so passionate about the incredible power of photography.
